ANGOLA, Ind. -- The Lawrence University men's hockey team dropped a 5-0 decision to No. 11 Trine University on Friday in the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association playoff opener at Thunder Ice Arena.
The Harris Cup quarterfinal series wraps up on Saturday. Lawrence needs a win Saturday to force a decisive mini-game.
Trine (19-7-0) jumped out to a 2-0 lead with a pair of first-period goals. Lawrence (8-16-2) kept it close by not allowing another score through the second period.
The Thunder scored just 56 seconds into the third period for a 3-0 edge and then added two more goals in the first nine minutes of the period to seal the victory. Trine had a 48-11 edge in shots for the game.
