SAUGET, Ill. -- The Lawrence University baseball team rallied for five runs in its final three innings Friday to down North Park University 7-4 in a nonconference game at GCS Ballpark.
  In the season opener for Lawrence, rookie shortstop
Tate Hartlaub belted his first collegiate homer.
Cam Ruth got win the with two innings of relief work, and
Brandon Brust picked up the save.
  Lawrence broke a scoreless tie in the bottom of the third went Hartlaub blasted a one-out solo homer.
Parker Knoll then reached on an error and raced all the way to third. He then scored on
Edan Perez's lineout to center field for a 2-0 lead.
  North Park (1-2) tied it with two runs in the fifth, but Lawrence struck for three runs in the sixth.
  First-year
CJ Filipek started the inning with his first career hit, and
Jacob Charon followed with a walk. Filipek scored on
Taylor Freeman's single for a 3-2 lead.
Luke Miles squeezed home a run with a sacrifice bunt to score Charon.
William Zatkowski's sacrifice fly later scored Freeman for a 5-2 edge.
  North Park answered with two runs in the seventh, but Brust then came in and shut the door. Brust had two innings of scoreless relief for the save.Â
  The Vikings tacked on a pair of insurance runs in the eighth. Zatkowski singled to drive in Charon, and Hartlaub's fielder's choice scored Miles for a 7-4 advantage.
  Ruth went two innings and allowed just one hit while striking out four and walking one to get the win.
Quinn Berglin made the start for Lawrence and allowed two runs on three hits, struck out four and walked one in four innings. Kevin Ayeski went five innings and took the loss for North Park.
