Lawrence can't cash in against Williams

    DAVENPORT, Fla. -- The Lawrence University baseball knocked out 14 hits on Tuesday against Williams College, but the Ephs hung on for a 3-2 nonconference victory at Northeast Regional Park.
    Lawrence (8-4) had multiple scoring chances but managed just two runs in the fourth inning and one in the fifth. The Vikings stranded 14 runners, including eight in the final four innings. 
    Parker Knoll went 4-for-5 with a home run, two runs batted in and a run scored to pace the Vikings. Lawrence's Jacob Charon went 2-for-3 with two doubles and a run scored, and Edan Perez, Taylor Freeman and William Zatkowski all had two hits. 
    The Vikings trailed 2-0 before tying the game in the fourth. Knoll led off the inning with a homer, and Charon followed with a walk. Charon came around to score on Freeman's single, and the game was tied 2-2.
    Lawrence grabbed the lead in the top of the fifth. Tate Hartlaub led off the inning with a single and came around to score on Knoll's single for a 3-2 advantage. 
    The Vikings gave up the lead in the bottom of the fifth when Williams twice on two hits, but the Ephs were helped by a balk and wild pitch to take a 4-3 lead.
    Lawrence left one runner on in the sixth, left the bases loaded in the seventh and stranded two runners in both the eighth and ninth innings.
    Brett Hartlaub took the loss in relief for the Vikings, and Jonah Palmer made the start and went three innings. Palmer allowed two runs on three hits, struck out five and walked three .
