APPLETON, Wis. -- The Lawrence University baseball team hit a pair of grand slams Tuesday and set a season wins record with a 19-9 nonconference victory over Carthage College at Whiting Field.

Charon went 3-for-4 with two homers, drove in seven and scored three times to pace Lawrence's nine-hit attack.
Parker Knoll went 2-for-3 with a homer, four runs scored and three runs batted in. Freeman's only hit was the grand slam and he finished with four RBIs, and

Jonah Palmer pitched a scheduled three innings and picked up the victory, his first of the season. He struck out six, walked one and allowed only one run on three hits. Logan Grimm took the loss after allowing six runs in the opening inning.
The Vikings (27-8) put 11 runs on the board in the bottom of the first on just four hits. Three walks loaded the bases, and Leslie walked to drive in the first run of the game. Freeman then blasted a towering homer to left for a grand slam and a 5-0 advantage.
 Â
Ben Gutowski and
William Zatkowski followed up with back-to-back singles, and
William Polanco's sacrifice fly made it 6-0.
Edan Perez later drew a bases-loaded walk to drive in another run. Charon then hit a mammoth homer to left-center for a second grand slam in the inning, and the Vikings led 11-0.
The Vikings tacked on two more runs in the third as Charon picked up a run-scoring single and Leslie added a sacrifice fly for a 13-1 lead.Â
Carthage scored three times in the top of the fourth, but the Vikings answered with two of their own in the bottom of the half of the inning. Knoll picked up a run-scoring single in the frame, and Lawrence led 15-4.
Lawrence scored four more times in the sixth as Knoll and Charon both hit two-run homers for a 19-4 lead. The Firebirds rallied to try and extend the game, but
Shane Foley came on to get the final two outs and end the game on the 10-run rule.
