DE PERE, Wis. -- The Lawrence University softball team dropped a pair of Midwest Conference games to Illinois College on Tuesday at Miron Construction Field.
Lawrence dropped the opener 13-0 and a rally fell short in a 7-5 setback in game two.
  In the nightcap,
Mattigan Haller went 3-for-3 with a double and a triple for the Vikings, and
Gillian Guerriero doubled and drove in three runs as Lawrence rallied late.
The Vikings (6-12, 0-2 MWC) trailed 7-0 after Illinois College struck for six runs in the top of the sixth, but the Vikings struck back in the bottom half of the inning.
 Â
Janessa Gonzalez started the bottom of the sixth with a one-out walk, and
Jordan Wallin-Swanson followed with a single.
Khayla Santiago then singled to score Gonzalez. After a fielder's choice, a walk to
Adrie Villa loaded the bases.Â
Guerriero then doubled and cleared the bases to score three runs and trim the lead to 7-4. That was it for Illinois College starter Hannah Crouch, but Haller greeted reliever Taylor Henry with a run-scoring triple to cut the advantage to 7-5.
Zoe Doherty drew a walk to put the tying run on base, but Henry got a strikeout to end the inning.
Julia Drake then worked a perfect seventh to pick up the save.
 Â
Lizzy Angemi went five strong innings for the Vikings before running into trouble in the sixth. Angemi scattered six hits over the first five innings and allowed just one run to that point.
Drake was the story in the opener as she threw a five-inning no-hitter for the Lady Blues (7-16, 2-0). Drake struck out eight, walked two and hit a batter to get the win.
Lawrence returns to action on Wednesday when the Vikings host Maranatha Baptist University in a nonconference doubleheader.
