Leslie, Knoll earn Academic All-District honors

    APPLETON, Wis. -- Lawrence University baseball players Zach Leslie and Parker Knoll have been named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District team. 
    The team recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. To be eligible for the team, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore, have a minimum 3.5 cumulative grade point average and meet minimums for participation during the season.
    Leslie (Chicago, Ill./University of Chicago Laboratory), a senior first baseman, made the academic all-district team for the second consecutive season. A chemistry major and statistics and data science minor, Leslie has a 3.89 grade point average. 
    Leslie earned All-Midwest Conference honors this spring for the second time in his career. Leslie compiled a .316 batting average on the season with seven doubles, one triple, five homers, 33 RBIs and 27 runs scored. An outstanding defender, Leslie made just one error (only the second of his career) and compiled a .995 fielding percentage. 
    Knoll (Appleton, Wis./Fox Valley Lutheran), a junior center fielder, was chosen for the academic all-district team for the second consecutive season. A biochemistry major, Knoll has a 3.86 grade point average. 
    Knoll earned a number of postseason awards, including selections on a pair of All-America teams. Knoll was a first-team All-America choice on the American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings team and was a fourth-team pick by D3baseball.com. 
    Regarded as one of the top defensive center fielders in the nation. Knoll was a first-team All-Region 9 selection by both the ABCA and D3baseball.com. He hit .393 on the season with 12 doubles, one triple and a team-best 16 home runs. He drove in 54 runs while scoring a team-best 68 runs. Knoll leads all of NCAA Division III at 1.62 runs scored per game. Knoll also proved to be a major threat on the bases with 21 steals during the campaign. A three-time all-region selection, Knoll put together a .488 on-base percentage to go with a .762 slugging percentage for a 1.250 OPS.
    Lawrence finished the season with a school-record 31 wins and won the Midwest Conference championship.
