APPLETON, Wis. -- The Lawrence University volleyball team opened play at the Lawrence Triangular on Friday with a 3-0 nonconference victory over Mount Mary University at Alexander Gymnasium.
  Lawrence defeated the Blue Angels 25-13, 25-11, 25-15.

Hazel Cook led Lawrence's attack with 14 kills, and she added six digs, two blocks and one aces. Lawrence's
Margaret Hahnke added 12 kills and also led the match with six aces to go along with eight digs. Senior
Hilirie McLaughlin chipped in with six kills and collected five digs for the Vikings.

Cora Linos piled up 24 assists to go with two digs, two kills and an ace. Lawrence libero
Daphne Piotrowski had a match-high 10 digs and picked up an ace.
  The Vikings were up 8-6 in the opening set and then rattled off the next nine points to take control. Lawrence did the same thing in the second set. The Vikings were up 11-7 when Lawrence rattled off 10 consecutive points to pull away. It was a little closer in the third set when Lawrence built a 16-12 lead, but the Vikings won nine of the final 12 points to close out the match.Â
