WHITEWATER, Wis. -- The Lawrence University women's soccer team scored a pair of first-half goals Saturday and posted a 2-0 nonconference victory at UW-Whitewater on Fiskum Field.
 Â
Hannah Kalt and
Maya Alberts scored for the Vikings (4-3-1), who limited Whitewater (2-4-2) to just four shots on goal.Â
Kalt got Lawrence on the board in the 14th minute when she took advantage of a ball that wasn't corralled by Whitewater goalkeeper Jude Dobrinska. Kalt jumped on the loose ball and put it in the corner of the net for a 1-0 lead at 13:52.
Lawrence doubled its advantage in the 29th minute on a goal from Alberts. Off a corner kick, Alberts headed the ball in at the 28:25 mark for a 2-0 edge with Kalt and
Natalie Linebarger picking up assists.
That margin was big enough for the Lawrence defense, which limited Whitewater to 13 shots. Lawrence goalkeeper
Ella Lysne made four saves to record the shutout.Â
This was the first meeting between the teams since 2001 when Lawrence posted a 3-1 victory over the Warhawks. The Vikings now have an 8-5-1 edge in the series with Whitewater.
