APPLETON, Wis. — Lawrence University and Eureka College played to a 2-2 draw on Tuesday evening at The Banta Bowl, with Lawrence scoring both goals in the second half to come back from a 1-0 halftime deficit.
The first half began with Lawrence establishing their defensive presence as
Nason Lancina made a crucial save against a shot by Tyler Kramer in the 22nd minute. Despite maintaining a solid defense, Lawrence's offense struggled to capitalize on their opportunities, with shots by
Pablo Silveira and
Emiliano Garcia Fadanalli both missing the target.
Eureka took the lead in the 36th minute with a goal from Gabriel Gonzalez. Lawrence attempted to respond with a shot by
Chuck Schlichtmann near the close of the half, but it went over the top. The first half ended with the home side trailing 1-0.
The second half commenced with the home team immediately applying pressure, resulting in multiple corner kicks and a notable attempt by
William Mikkelsen that went wide. Mikkelsen found the back of the net in the 63rd minute, assisted by Garcia Fadanalli, leveling the score at 1-1. The hosts' persistent offense was met with a response from Eureka, as Gonzalez scored in the 79th minute, giving the visitors a 2-1 lead.
The Vikings continued to push forward, and
Eamon Rougvie equalized in the 86th minute with the assistance of Mikkelsen, bringing the score to 2-2. Despite several attempts, including a late effort by Leo Decorte that was saved, they maintained the tie as the half concluded. The match ended in a 2-2 draw.
