JACKSONVILLE, Ill. — Illinois Col. (8-3-5, 3-2-3) edged Lawrence (0-10-5, 0-6-1) with a 2-1 victory on Saturday at England Stadium.
Illinois College initially dominated the opening half with a series of shots on goal, leading to Jives Efemini's score in the 13th minute. Lawrence responded strongly, with
Nason Lancina making several key saves, including three within the first nine minutes, helping to keep the game within reach.
William Mikkelsen equalized for the Vikings in the 22nd minute, assisted by
Pablo Silveira, which leveled the score at 1-1 by halftime.
Lawrence struggled to find offensive momentum in the second half, committing multiple fouls and managing only one shot on goal by Mikkelsen in the 72nd minute. Meanwhile, Illinois College capitalized on their opportunities, with Tyler Lunning scoring the decisive goal in the 53rd minute. The period ended with the Vikings trailing 2-1.
Mikkelsen scored the only goal for Lawrence, converting one of his two shots. Lancina delivered a strong performance in goal, recording seven saves over 90 minutes. Silveira contributed with an assist, helping to create scoring opportunities.
