Vikings drop heartbreaker to Grinnell

    APPLETON, Wis. -- The Lawrence University volleyball team dropped a 3-1 Midwest Conference decision to Grinnell College on Saturday in a tight match at Alexander Gymnasium.
    The Pioneers pulled out a 25-19, 23-25, 28-26, 25-23 win over Lawrence.
    Hazel Cook pounded out 18 kills and picked up 13 digs while firing three service aces and picking up three blocks for the Vikings (14-7, 0-2 MWC). 
    The Lawrence rookies carried the rest of the attack. Audrey Weier added 11 kills, while Chania Tinch added nine kills while hitting .412. Tinch also had three blocks. Annaliesse Schmall added seven kills for the Vikings.
    Setter Ally Corrente posted 43 assists while picking up six kills, three aces and 11 digs. Lawrence libero Aria Wessel posted a team-best 26 digs, and Amanda Vlkovic added 16 digs and Alayna Geiser had 10.
