Vikings edged out by Foresters on the road

LAKE FOREST, Ill. — Lawrence (1-5-0, 0-4-0) fell to Lake Forest (2-3-1, 2-2-0), 3-1, on the road. Lawrence managed to score in the third period but was unable to overcome the early two-goal deficit set by Lake Forest.

The first period began with Lake Forest winning the initial faceoff and both teams exchanging shots early. Lake Forest's Johnny Mead opened the scoring at 5:48, assisted by Jonah Copre and Hayden Riva, giving the home team a 1–0 lead. Despite Lawrence's power play opportunity following a two-minute elbowing penalty on Mead, they were unable to capitalize. The Foresters extended their advantage with a goal from Christopher O'Flaherty at 15:35, assisted by Jax Schauer and Luke Lizak, leading to a 2–0 score by the period's end.

Lake Forest extended its lead to 3-0 in the second period with a goal from Luke Lizak at 15:13, assisted by Hayden Riva and Max Abramson. Despite Lawrence's attempts, including shots by Cody Brekke and Ethan Johnson, Luke Szyszka stood firm in goal for the Foresters. Lawrence struggled to capitalize on multiple power-play opportunities, as key blocks from players like Lizak prevented them from finding the back of the net. Owen Carlson faced continuous pressure, making several saves to keep the score from widening further.

Lawrence fought back in the third period, cutting the deficit to two with Roman Cherniak scoring at 16:14, assisted by Ethan Look and Robby Pustulka. Despite generating multiple shots on goal throughout the period, the Vikings could not overcome the two-goal margin held by Lake Forest. Both teams faced penalties late in the game, resulting in a series of roughing and face-masking infractions, but neither could capitalize on the resulting power plays. The Foresters maintained their lead, securing a 3-1 victory.
