Vikings overcome Green Knights to continue hot start

DE PERE, Wis. — Lawrence University (5-0, 0-0 Midwest Conference) rallied in the second half to secure a 66-60 victory over St. Norbert College (1-2, 0-0 NACC) on Wednesday night at the Mulva Family Fitness & Sports Center. The Vikings' defense held the Green Knights to just 25 points in the second half, overcoming a 10-point halftime deficit.

Lawrence started strong, with Casey Schoenecker scoring back-to-back layups early to give the visitors an initial lead. Nathan Valentine contributed with key assists, helping Lawrence build steady momentum. Nicholas Gouriotis added a 3-pointer, maintaining a slight edge over St. Norbert. However, the Green Knights responded with a series of scores late in the half, overtaking Lawrence with a 10-0 run in the final minutes.

Despite solid defensive efforts and key rebounds from CJ Campbell, the Vikings faced challenges in maintaining their early lead. St. Norbert capitalized on turnovers and fast breaks, widening the gap before the half concluded. The home team led Lawrence 35-25 at the end of the first half.

Lawrence capitalized on pivotal moments in the second half, overcoming a deficit with a series of strategic plays. Hogan Demovsky's early 3-pointer set the tone, narrowing the gap. Campbell and Schoenecker consistently provided offensive pressure, each contributing crucial assists and points in the paint. The team's defensive discipline was highlighted by forcing six turnovers while limiting St. Norbert's success from the field.

Gouriotis made significant contributions with rebounds and scoring, including two key free throws in the final seconds to seal the lead. Lawrence outscored St. Norbert 41–25 in the half, closing with a 66–60 victory.
