Vikings fall at home to Warhawks

APPLETON, Wis. — Lawrence University fell to the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, 88-58, on Wednesday night at Alexander Gym. The Warhawks capitalized on their shooting accuracy, converting 12 three-pointers and outscoring the Vikings in the paint with 38 points.

Lawrence opened the first half with an offensive tip-in by Hogan Demovsky, taking an early lead. The team maintained pressure with a series of rebounds and a three-pointer from Nathan Valentine. Despite these efforts, Wisconsin-Whitewater responded with strong shooting from beyond the arc and fast-break points, gradually overtaking the scoreboard. CJ Campbell contributed significantly with key offensive rebounds and a pair of three-pointers, but turnovers hindered the Vikings' momentum. The Warhawks capitalized on their opportunities, extending their lead with consistent scoring, closing the half with a 47-27 advantage over Lawrence.

The Vikings began the second half with strong defensive plays, including a block by Campbell at 19:44 and a steal by Casey Schoenecker at 19:02, which helped maintain pressure on the Warhawks. Despite these efforts, the visiting team capitalized on their opportunities, extending their lead with effective shooting from beyond the arc and in the paint.

Schoenecker and Nicholas Gouriotis led scoring efforts for the Vikings with consistent layups, while Campbell contributed with a three-pointer at 16:12. However, the Warhawks responded with quick points, increasing their advantage through a series of fast breaks and successful three-point attempts.

As the half progressed, the Vikings continued to fight back with key free throws from Valentine and contributions from the bench. Nonetheless, Wisconsin-Whitewater maintained their momentum, ending the half ahead, 88–58.
