Lawrence opened the first half trading leads with Monmouth, leveraging key defensive plays to maintain momentum. Early in the half, Hogan Demovsky converted three consecutive free throws at 18:38 to narrow an early gap set by the home team. Casey Schoenecker played a pivotal role, scoring multiple layups, including a notable basket at 12:25, keeping the Vikings within reach.

Midway through the half, the Vikings capitalized on strong rebounding, with Nicholas Gouriotis securing an offensive rebound and converting a tip-in at 2:48 to tie the game. As the half drew to a close, Lawrence executed a critical scoring drive, highlighted by Demovsky's 3-pointer at 0:47, assisted by Schoenecker, to take the lead. The half ended with Lawrence ahead, 39-37.

Lawrence opened the second half with a scoring drive led by CJ Campbell, who contributed with a layup and an ensuing 3-pointer to give the Vikings a 44-40 advantage. Schoenecker was instrumental during this stretch, providing key assists and defensive rebounds. Lawrence continued to battle, maintaining a slim lead until Monmouth responded with a series of successful possessions to tie the game at 50-50 midway through the half.

As the half progressed, Campbell remained a focal point, adding another layup and a free throw, keeping the game tightly contested. Despite the Vikings' efforts, notable contributions from Monmouth's Cameron Thomas, including a late 3-pointer, shifted the momentum.
