Vikings can't keep pace with Titans

OSHKOSH, Wis. — Lawrence University (7-4, 1-2 Midwest Conference) fell to the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh (9-2, 0-0 WIAC) 89-52 on Sunday night at Oshkosh Arena. The Vikings struggled with turnovers, committing 25, while the Titans capitalized with 35 points off those turnovers.

Lawrence began the first half with balanced play, keeping the score tied early at 2-2 with a jumper by Casey Schoenecker. Despite some turnovers, the team maintained composure, with CJ Campbell contributing with points in the paint. However, the Titans capitalized on turnovers, leading to a scoring run that increased their margin.

Lawrence managed to cut the deficit with a 3-pointer from Nicholas Gouriotis and steady free-throw shooting by Caleb Nash, which brought the score to 21-32. Yet, the Titans maintained their lead through efficient scoring in the paint and fast breaks, closing the half with a 35-23 advantage.

The Titans opened the second half with a strong defensive stance, converting turnovers into points and extending their lead early. Lawrence managed to respond with a 3-pointer from Nathan Valentine, assisted by Caleb Nash, cutting into the deficit momentarily. Despite efforts from multiple Viking players the Titans maintained control with effective shooting from beyond the arc and in the paint.

As the half progressed, the visitors faced challenges in maintaining possession, resulting in turnovers that the Titans capitalized on to widen their lead. Cameron Nash led Lawrence with a layup at 15:25 and a jumper at 11:17, but consistent scoring from the Titans kept the gap significant. In the closing minutes, Lawrence added points through free throws from Henry Jensen and Damian Cejka, but the Titans' scoring remained relentless. The game concluded with Wis.-Oshkosh leading 89–52 taking home the win over the Vikings.Ā
