Vikings roll at home to pick up first conference win of the season

APPLETON, Wis. — Lawrence University (6-1, 1-1 Midwest Conference) secured an 88-77 victory over Lake Forest College (3-5, 0-1 Midwest Conference) on Saturday at Alexander Gym. Lawrence connected on 14 three-pointers, contributing significantly to their win.

Lawrence opened the game with a strong offensive performance, starting with Casey Schoenecker's layup within the first minute. The team built momentum through effective ball movement, resulting in 15 assists and 11 successful 3-pointers. Defensive rebounds were also key, with the Vikings securing 19 defensive boards, allowing them to maintain possession and control the pace.

CJ Campbell contributed significantly with multiple 3-pointers, helping extend the lead. The team's bench added 12 points, providing depth to the lineup. As the half progressed, the Vikings maintained their offensive efficiency, closing the first half with a 50–33 advantage over the Foresters.

Lawrence opened the second half with steady defensive play, highlighted by Schoenecker's early steal at 19:19. The team capitalized on free throws, maintaining their lead. A three-pointer by Nicholas Gouriotis at 17:43 extended their advantage, supported by Nathan Valentine's assist.

Campbell's performance bolstered the Vikings, contributing with a jumper at 16:49 and a three-pointer at 12:57. Despite Lake Forest's attempts to close the gap, including a three-pointer by Luke Arington at 11:27, Lawrence maintained control. The half concluded with Lawrence leading 88-77, maintaining a comfortable margin entering the final stretch.
