LAKE FOREST, Ill. -- The Lawrence University men's basketball team rallied in the final minutes Wednesday but came up short in a 70-63 Midwest Conference loss to Lake Forest College at the Sports and Recreation Center.
  The Vikings trailed by nine with 2:41 left but the cut the deficit to one with 49 seconds remaining before the Foresters hung on for the win.

Casey Schoenecker paced Lawrence (6-17, 4-10 MWC) with 18 points, and he added four rebounds, three assists and two blocks.
Nathan Valentine added 11 points and three rebounds for the Vikings.

Hogan Demovsky chipped in with eight points, three rebounds and two assists for the Vikings, and
Liam Graham came off the bench to score six points and pull down a team-best six rebounds.
  Alex Forowycz led Lake Forest (10-12, 7-6) with 21 points, and Cristian Rodriguez had a game-high 12 rebounds.
  Lawrence trailed by as many as 13 points late in the first half, but the Vikings scored the final eight points before the break.
Nicolas Manzanera started the run with a pair of free throws, and Graham followed with a layup. After two more free throws from Manzanera, Graham's layup in the final seconds cut the lead to 34-30 at the half.
  The teams traded the lead early in the second half before Lake Forest eased out to a more comfortable margin. The Foresters were up 62-53 when Schoenecker converted a three-point play to trim the margin to 62-56.
  After a pair of Lake Forest free throws, Schoenecker got another three-point play, and
Caleb Nash scored on a layup to cut the lead to 64-61. Following a Lake Forest miss, Manzanera's driving layup trimmed the margin to 64-63 with 49 seconds left.
  Elijah Bull countered with a three-point play to give Lake Forest a 67-63 lead with 28 seconds left, and Valentine missed a corner triple on the ensuing possession.
  Lake Forest then converted three free throws in the final 12 seconds to secure the win.
