WAUKESHA, Wis. -- The Lawrence University men's lacrosse team rallied late Wednesday but came up short in a 9-8 nonconference loss to Carroll University at Schneider Stadium.
  The Vikings trailed by four early in the fourth quarter but trimmed the margin to one goal in the final three minutes.

Judah Goehring and
Logan Marsh had two goals apiece, and
Iori Yamada had a goal and two assists for the Vikings (0-2).
  After Carroll (2-0) scored an extra-man opportunity early in the fourth quarter to go up 9-5, Lawrence quickly countered to start the rally. Marsh scored his second goal of the night off a pass from
Camden Waters with 10:37 left to cut the lead to 9-6.
  Goehring and Yamada then teamed up for the final two goals for the Vikings. Goehring scored off a pass from Yamada with 7:48 remaining, and the same combination scored again with 3:09 left to cut the margin to 9-8.
  Lawrence applied pressure in the final minutes but couldn't get the equalizer. Carroll finished the game with a 39-36 edge in shots.
  Lawrence grabbed the early lead when
Emmett Eischens scored with 10:14 left in the first quarter. Carroll scored the next two goals before
Brody Herr finished the first-quarter scoring for the Vikings to tie the game at 2-2.
  Carroll then scored the game's next three goals before Marsh got his first goal of the night to cut the PIoneers lead to 5-3. Carroll then got a short-handed goal with 21 seconds left in the first half to take a 6-3 lead into the half.
  The teams then traded goals as Yamada and
Robbie Spielmann scored for the Vikings to slice the margin to 7-5. Carroll scored the next two goals late in teh third and early in the fourth before the Vikings rallied.

Gavin Reiter made 16 saves for the Vikings, and Jake Gehl stopped 10 shots for Carroll.
