APPLETON, Wis. -- The Lawrence University women's basketball team used a late scoring run Wednesday to rally for a 76-74 Midwest Conference victory over Knox College at Alexander Gymnasium.
    The Vikings trailed 67-60 with six minutes remaining but finished the game on a 16-7 burst to grab the victory. Knox missed a potential game-winning 3-pointer in the final seconds.
    Lawrence's 
Mallory Meyer scored a game-high 24 points as she went 9-for-13 from the floor. Meyer added six rebounds and a pair of assists. Meyer now has 953 points for her career and moved past Lawrence Hall of Famer Gina Seegers (942) into ninth place on the career scoring list.
    
Sophie Morey, who hit critical free throws down the stretch, finished with 13 points and eight rebounds for the Vikings (16-5, 10-2 MWC). 
Maggie Culver posted a double-double for the Vikings with 13 points and a game-high 10 rebounds. 
Kate Adams came off the bench for the Vikings to add 10 points, and 
Olivia Kesti tied for game-high honors with 10 rebounds to go with six points.
    Bria Medina led Knox (12-8, 7-4) with 20 points.
    In a game that featured 10 lead changes, Lawrence had built a 48-39 lead in the third quarter before Knox rallied. The Prairie Fire took the lead back at 57-56 and pushed the advantage to 67-60 on Medina's 3-pointer with just over six minutes remaining.
    Meyer then hit a jumper and Adams followed with a 3-pointer to cut Knox's advantage to 67-65. The Vikings got back on top after a pair of Meyer free throws for a 69-68 lead, but Knox answered with a layup from Kylee Callahan fo take a 70-69 lead. 
    The teams then traded empty possessions before Morey's layup gave Lawrence a 71-70 lead with 2:14 left. Following a Knox turnover, Meyer hit a jumper and the Vikings led 73-70. Knox rallied again and Haylee Carpenter hit a 3-pointer with 15 seconds left for a 74-73 lead.
    Lawrence went right back to Morey, who drove to the basket and was fouled with 12 seconds left. Morey made both free throws to give Lawrence a 75-74 advantage. 
Charlotte Brennan then stole the ball from Medina and Morey was fouled with eight seconds remaining. She made one free throw for a 76-74 lead. 
    Knox had a chance to win it, but Callahan's 3-pointer from the corner was off the mark in the final seconds.
    Lawrence, just a half-game out of first place in the Midwest Conference, travels to Illinois College on Saturday.
