Vikings drop pair to St. Olaf

    DAVENPORT, Fla. -- Two big innings were the difference Sunday as the Lawrence University baseball team lost a nonconference doubleheader to St. Olaf College at Northeast Regional Park.
    St. Olaf won the opener 10-3 and the Oles took the second game 12-4. St. Olaf had an eight-run inning in both games.
    In the first game, St. Olaf (8-5) led 2-0 when the Oles scored eight times in the bottom of the fourth inning. Lawrence (4-7) picked up two runs in the sixth and another in the seventh.
    Taylor Freeman went 3-for-3 with a home run, two runs batted in and a run scored for the Vikings. Lawrence's Shane Santaga went 2-for-3 with a double.
    Conner Robertson made the start and allowed five earned run on five hits over three innings. He struck out four and walked four and took the loss.
    In the nightcap, the Vikings led 2-0 after scoring a pair of runs in the bottom of the second on Nolan Zurawski's two-run blast, his first homer of the season. St. OIaf rallied for three runs in the fourth to take a 3-2 lead.
    The Oles then scored eight times in the top of the sixth to expand the lead to 11-2. Lawrence got two runs in the bottom half of the inning but could draw no closer.
    Tate Hartlaub went 2-for-4 for the Vikings, and Santaga and Nathan Zumbrunnen both picked up doubles.
    Richie LaCien made the start for the Vikings and posted three scoreless innings. Max Huddleston allowed three runs on four hits over the next two innings and took the loss.
