DAVENPORT, Fla. -- The Lawrence University baseball team grabbed a nonconference doubleheader split on Tuesday with Hamilton College at Northeast Regional Park.
  Lawrence won the opener 7-6, and Hamilton took the nightcap 12-2.
  In the opener, Lawrence took the lead in the fourth inning and had to work out of major jam in the seventh to preserve the victory.

Zach Leslie went 2-for-3 and drove in a run for the Vikings (5-8), and
Taylor Freeman also was 2-for-3 and scored three runs.
Edan Perez and
CJ Filipek both drove in a pair of runs for Lawrence.

William Polanco worked 1.2 innings of scoreless relief to pick up his first win of the season.
  Lawrence trailed 2-0 in the third when the Vikings scored a pair of runs. Freeman reached on an error to start the inning and later scored on
Shane Santaga's single. Leslie picked up a two-out single to score Santaga and tie the game at 2-2.
  Hamilton (8-4) took the lead again with two runs in the top of the fourth, but the Vikings grabbed the lead back with three runs in the bottom half of the inning.Â

Nathan Depew started the inning with a single and later scored on
Tate Hartlaub's single. Freeman followed with a single, and an error then allowed Hartlaub to score the tie the game. Filipek's sacrifice fly scored Freeman, and Lawrence led 5-4.Â
  The Vikings tacked on two more runs in the sixth. Hartlaub walked and stole second to start the inning, and Freeman followed with a single to put runners at the corners. Perez's sacrifice fly scored Hartlaub, and Filipek added another sacrifice fly to score Freeman, and Lawrence led 7-4.

Shane Foley came on for the Vikings in the seventh but had to work around two hits, a walk and a hit batman to secure his third save of the season.
  In the second game, Hamilton jumped out to a 4-0 lead after the opening inning and pulled away with five runs in the fifth.Â
  Perez went 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles, and
Nic Heerde and Depew both drove in runs for the Vikings.

Ari Smolar-Eisenberg made the start for Lawrence and took the loss. He allowed four runs on six hits, struck out one and walked one.Â
