Vikings start slow, fall at Dubuque

DUBUQUE, Iowa -- The Lawrence University men's lacrosse team got off to a slow start Sunday and dropped an 18-6 Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference decision to the University of Dubuque at Oyen Field.
Dubuque jumped out to a 4-0 lead to start the game and stretched that advantage to 10-2 at the half. Lawrence scored the first goal of the second half, but that's as close as the Vikings would get as Dubuque pulled away.
Iori Yamada and Brody Herr both had two goals and an assist to pace the Vikings (2-5, 0-2 NACC). Camden Waters and Judah Goehring also scored for the Vikings. Gavin Reiter made seven saves through the first three quarters for the Vikings, and Tyler Graham stopped three shots in the fourth.
Dubuque (3-4, 2-0) posted a 44-28 edge in shots, and the Spartans had a 46-24 edge in ground balls. Lawrence went 0-for-2 on extra-man opportunities, and the Spartans were 1-for-3.
