Freeman, Santana earn all-region baseball honors

APPLETON, Wis. -- Lawrence University baseball stars Taylor Freeman and Elden Santana have received All-Region 9 honors.
A senior second baseman, Freeman (Missouri City, Texas/Houston Christian) was chosen by both D3baseball.com and the American Baseball Coaches Association. Freeman was a D3baseball.com first-team selection and received ABCA second-team honors. A senior pitcher, Santana (Brooklyn, N.Y./Berkeley Carroll) was chosen by the ABCA for its third team.
Freeman put together a spectacular season at the plate on his way to being named the Midwest Conference Position Player of the Year. Freeman hit .439 for the season, and that ranks 16th in all of NCAA Division III, with nine doubles, one triple, 14 home runs and 48 runs batted in. He also scored 58 runs and swiped a school-record 35 bases.
Freeman ranks 10th in the nation at 0.90 stolen bases per game. He is 11th at 1.49 runs scored per game and 20th at 0.36 homers per game.
This is Freeman's second all-region honor, and the first time he has received first-team accolades. Freeman also was a 2022 ABCA third-team All-Region 9 selection.
The 2025 campaign wrapped up a spectacular career for Freeman, who is all over the Lawrence record book. He ranks 15th with a career .349 batting average and is fourth with a .646 slugging percentage. Freeman ranks first with 51 doubles, second with 41 homers and second with 163 RBIs. He is the career leader with 177 runs scored and first with 83 stolen bases.
This is the first all-region selection for Santana, who was a 2024 and 2025 first-team All-Midwest Conference selection.
Santana went 6-1 with a 2.65 earned run average over 57.2 innings and earned Midwest Conference Pitcher of the Week honors for the second time in his career. Santana, who also picked up one save on the season, struck out 61 this season.
Santana earned a shutout and allowed a season-low two hits in a 12-0 win over Maritime College. He also struck out a season-best nine batters vs. Maritime and posted eight strikeouts against both Monmouth College and Knox College.
For his career, Santana finished third on Lawrence's career list with 17 victories. He ranks first with 233 career strikeouts and is second at 10.38 strikeouts per nine innings. Santana is second with 53 appearances and fourth with 202 innings pitched.
This marks the fifth consecutive season Lawrence has earned an all-region selection. The Vikings finished with a 21-19 record and won their second consecutive Midwest Conference championship.
