Lawrence drops road contest to Scots

    MONMOUTH, Ill. -- The Lawrence University football team fell behind early Saturday, and Monmouth College pulled away for a 78-7 Midwest Conference victory at April Zorn Stadium.
    Monmouth (1-1, 1-0 MWC) jumped out to a 21-point lead after the opening quarter and then put up 31 points in the second quarter to pull away. Big plays were the order of the day as Monmouth scored on six play that were 40 yards or longer. 
    Lawrence (0-2, 0-1) got its lone score of the day when rookie quarterback Boris Christensen threw a 25-yard touchdown pass to Dane Torrence with 2:13 remaining. 
    Chris Lozano and Kolbe Gelvin led the Vikings with five tackles apiece, and Brady Dilworth and Jon Pasquarello both had four tackles.
    Lawrence quarterback Hunter Carlson ran nine times for 32 yards and completed 4-of-11 passes for 27 yards.
