APPLETON, Wis. -- The Lawrence University defense came up big Saturday, but the Vikings struggled offensively in a 20-0 Midwest Conference loss to Cornell College on Ron Roberts Field at the Banta Bowl.
  The Vikings limited Cornell (1-2, 1-1 MWC) to 167 yards of offense and forced four turnovers. Cornell's defense also was effective as Lawrence had just 133 yards of offense.
  Lawrence (0-3, 0-2) used a pair of quarterbacks as Boris Christenson went 4-for-18 passing for 38 yards and
Hunter Carlson was 6-for-7 for 38 yards. Carlson also ran 12 times for 34 yards and caught one pass for 17 yards.Â
Henry Riek led Lawrence with three catches for 33 yards,
Anthony Zavala added eight carries for 25 yards.
  Cornell quarterback Thomas Monken went 14-for-24 for 81 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions. Monken also rank 17 times for 50 yards and a touchdown.
  Linebacker
Jon Pasquarello led Lawrence's defense with 14 tackles, including a sack, and recovered a fumble. Defensive end
Rex Pearson picked up eight tackles, including a sack, and forced a fumble.

Jahlan Paul both had interceptions for the Vikings.
  Cornell took the opening drive of the game and moved 64 yards in seven plays for a touchdown and a 7-0 lead. The Rams made it 14-0 early in the second quarter. Taking advantage of a short field, Cornell put together a nine-play, 30-yard drive for a touchdown with 9:22 left in the opening half.
  The teams then traded interceptions as Blackburn picked off Monken and the Rams intercepted Carlson before the end of the half. Lawrence moved the ball in the second half but couldn't put together a scoring drive.Â
  Cornell got its final score on a Zavion Jordan 62-yard interception return for a touchdown with 3:25 remaining.
  Lawrence has a bye next week and returns to action on October 4 at Illinois College.
