STEVENS POINT, Wis. --
Kylie Melonis scored twice Sunday to lead the Lawrence University women's soccer team to a 2-2 nonconference tie against UW-Stevens Point at the Point Soccer Bowl.
Melonis picked up two goals in the first 35 minutes, but the Pointers scored with less than 12 minutes remaining to salvage the tie.
Melonis got the scoring started early when she took a pass from
Hannah Kalt and beat Stevens Point goalkeeper Shea Lucas for a 1-0 lead just 5:52 into the contest. The Pointers tied it at the 13:20 mark, but Lawrence (2-2-3) surged back ahead before the break.
Melonis scored again at the 34:42 mark when she took a pass from
Elena Hartung and found the back of the net for a 2-1 advantage. That lead held up until the 79th minute when Paige Ostroushko tied it for Stevens Point (2-3-2).
The two goalkeepers combined for one save. Lucas made one for the Pointers, and
Ally Littau didn't have a save for Lawrence.
