Late goal sinks Lawrence against Pioneers

    APPLETON, Wis. -- The Lawrence University men's soccer team dropped a 2-1 heartbreaker to Grinnell College on Saturday in the Midwest Conference opener on Ron Roberts Field at the Banta Bowl.
    Grinnell's Demi Oni scored with 4:24 remaining to break a 1-1 tie. Demi also assisted on the game's first goal to give the Pioneers a 1-0 lead just 1:40 into the contest.
    Lawrence (0-5-2, 0-1-0 MWC) countered quickly to tie the game. Daito Sho scored for the Vikings at the 19:45 mark, and the game remained 1-1 until the final minutes.
    Lawrence goalkeeper Nason Lancina stopped eight shots for the Vikings. Jack Alexander made one save for Grinnell (2-5-3, 1-0-0).
