BLOOMINGTON, Ill. -- The Lawrence University women's tennis team dropped a tight 4-3 nonconference decision at Illinois Wesleyan University on Thursday.Â
Lawrence took two of the three doubles match to claim that point, but Illinois Wesleyan won four of the six singles matches to claim the victory.
The Vikings took the top two doubles flights to nab that point.
Anna Vanden Acker and
Logan Kane were 6-4 winners at No. 1 doubles, and
Clara Hills and
Tess McGlenn posted a 6-2 victory at No. 2 doubles.
Hills then won in straight sets at No. 1 singles as she knocked off Amber Ehrlich 6-4, 6-0. Kane picked up the other singles point for the Vikings at No. 3. Kane lost the opening set 6-4, but came back to win the second set 6-2 against Katie Van Heuklon, who then retired to hand Kane the victory.
Lawrence also went to a super-tiebreaker at No. 2 and No. 4 singles, but Illinois Wesleyan was able to win both of those to secure the match victory.
The Vikings return to action on Friday at Concordia University Chicago.
