Lawrence fires shutout at Cougars

    RIVER FOREST, Ill. -- The Lawrence University women's tennis team romped to a 7-0 nonconference victory over Concordia University Chicago on Friday at the CUC Courts.
    Lawrence (1-2) lost just seven games total in the nine matches. 
    The Vikings surged to a 3-0 edge by sweeping the doubles. Anna Vanden Acker and Logan Kane were 6-2 winners at No. 1, Clara Hills and Tess McGlenn won 6-1 at No. 2 and Evie Vacek and Madelena Priest won 6-1 at No. 3. It was the first collegiate victory for both Vacek and Priest, who are both first-year players. 
    Lawrence then won all six singles matches. Vanden Acker at No. 2, Kane at No. 3, McGlenn at No. 4 and Pofahl at No. 6 all won 6-0, 6-0. Hills won  6-0, 6-1 at No. 1, and Sky Shinohara was a 6-0, 6-2 winner at No. 5.
    The Vikings return to action on September 10 when they host Lakeland University at the Lawrence Courts.
