FOND DU LAC, Wis. — Lawrence University (6-13-0, 1-11-0) was edged out by Marian University (5-12-2, 4-8-0), 3-2, in a tightly contested overtime match. The Vikings managed to take the lead twice, but the Sabres scored a shorthanded goal in the second period and secured the win with an overtime goal.

Lawrence initiated the game with steady pressure, controlling the puck and creating opportunities early in the first period. Their persistence paid off when Cody Brekke scored at 13:30, assisted by Robby Pustulka and Tiziano Pauchard, putting the Vikings ahead with the only goal of the period. 

The home team's defensive resilience was evident, with Nolan Mahaffey securing multiple saves to keep the Sabres off the scoreboard. As the period closed, Lawrence held their lead, finishing the first period with a 1–0 advantage.

The second period saw Lawrence regain momentum with a goal from Alexey Trischuk at 09:47, assisted by Pauchard and PJ Noonan, which put them ahead 2–1. Marian responded quickly with a strategic use of an extra attacker, resulting in a goal by Noah Pickart at 12:20, leveling the score. 

Lawrence held firm defensively, with notable blocks from Kenny Sutton and Trischuk. However, Marian managed to equalize late in the period with a short-handed goal from Cole Carlson at 01:41, bringing the score to 2–2 as the period concluded.

The third period began with a faceoff win by Marian, but Lawrence's defense, anchored by Mahaffey, effectively countered Marian's attempts on goal. Mahaffey made several key saves early in the period, preventing the home team from gaining momentum.

The Vikings generated offensive opportunities, including shots from Carter Cloutier and Ethan Beaumont, but were unable to convert. Despite maintaining pressure, Lawrence could not break the deadlock, as Nicholas Von Kaufmann stood firm in goal for Marian.

The sudden-death goal concluded the overtime, with the Vikings falling 3-2.
