Vikings skate past Buccaneers

APPLETON, Wis. — Lawrence (5-9-0) secured a decisive 4–1 victory over Beloit College (2-9-1) at home. The Vikings' special teams contributed significantly with one power-play and one shorthanded goal in the win.

The first period began with Lawrence establishing early control. Carter Cloutier scored at 17:14 with assists from Ethan Look and Roman Cherniak, putting the Vikings on the board first. Despite multiple power-play opportunities, the home team was unable to extend their lead. However, they maintained defensive solidity, with Nolan Mahaffey making key saves to keep the Buccaneers scoreless. The period concluded with Lawrence leading 1–0.

Lawrence maintained their defensive edge in the second period, with goaltender Mahaffey making several critical saves to hold Beloit scoreless. Despite facing multiple power play situations, the Vikings successfully killed off penalties and then capitalized on a short-handed opportunity. With just eight seconds remaining, Luke Robertson scored a short-handed goal assisted by Jayden Jensen, extending their lead. The period concluded with Lawrence ahead 2-0, demonstrating resilience and efficient penalty killing.

Lawrence capitalized early in the third period with a power-play opportunity, as Robby Pustulka scored unassisted at 15:31, extending the lead. Shortly after, the Buccaneers managed to respond at 14:46 with a goal from Kaden Milles, narrowing the gap. Despite the pressure from Beloit, the Vikings maintained control, effectively defending during a Buccaneers' power play. With 2:10 remaining, Cloutier added to Lawrence's advantage with an even-strength goal, assisted by PJ Noonan. The period concluded with Lawrence securing a 4–1 victory over the visitors from Beloit College.Ā
