Viking hit 17 3 pointers in win over Rams

APPLETON, Wis. — Lawrence (9-4, 2-2 Midwest Conference) secured a decisive 91-74 victory over Cornell College (1-12, 0-4 Midwest Conference) on Wednesday at Alexander Gym. Lawrence's 17 three-pointers contributed significantly to their commanding performance, while they also amassed 31 assists in the game.

Lawrence started strong in the first half, quickly responding to an early Cornell College basket with a three-pointer from CJ Campbell, assisted by Nathan Valentine. Campbell continued to lead the offensive effort, contributing multiple three-pointers and a layup, which helped Lawrence regain control after initially trailing 11-3.

The Vikings capitalized on turnovers and defensive rebounds to fuel a series of fast-break opportunities, allowing them to extend their lead. Notable plays included a three-pointer from Hogan Demovsky and a layup from Nicholas Gouriotis, both adding to Lawrence's advantage.

As the half progressed, Lawrence maintained momentum through efficient ball movement, leading to Valentine and Gouriotis netting additional points. The half closed with Lawrence firmly ahead, leading 44-27 over the Rams.

Lawrence opened the second half with a strong offensive display, highlighted by Nathan Valentine's three-pointer and Campbell's layup off an assist from Gouriotis. This early momentum was bolstered by a steady stream of assists, with Lawrence maintaining their lead through strategic ball distribution, culminating in a half where they registered 17 assists.

Defensively, Lawrence made key stops, including blocks by Casey Schoenecker, which limited the Rams' scoring opportunities. The Vikings also found late scoring contributions from Caleb Nash and Nolan Koch , both adding crucial points down the stretch. The half concluded with Lawrence maintaining their lead, and the Vikings securing a big conference win at home.
