Adams ties 3 point record in win over Ladyblues

APPLETON, Wis. — Lawrence (18-5, 11-3 Midwest Conference) defeated Illinois College (10-13, 6-8 Midwest Conference), 76-61, at Alexander Gym, controlling the game with a 46-34 rebounding advantage and Kate Adams tying the record for most 3 pointers in a single game with 7.

Charlotte Brennan contributed two early free throws to get the scoring started, and Kate Adams extended the lead with a 3-pointer at the 7:41 mark. The Vikings' defensive efforts were highlighted by Sophie Morey's block and strong rebounding, which limited Illinois College's offensive opportunities.

The home team maintained momentum through efficient ball distribution, resulting in five assists and a 19–10 lead by the end of the quarter. The Ladyblues managed to cut into the lead slightly with a late 3-pointer from McKenna Christiansen, but Lawrence's solid start kept the score in its favor.

Lawrence opened the second quarter with a strong defensive presence and rebounding effort, grabbing 10 offensive boards. A significant momentum shift occurred midway through the quarter with Adams sinking two crucial 3-pointers, the first at 8:35 and another at 6:07, contributing to a scoring run that extended the lead. Lawrence effectively capitalized on turnovers, scoring four points off Illinois College's five turnovers.

The quarter was capped by a late 3-pointer from Adams, assisted by Brennan, which solidified Lawrence's advantage. The period concluded with Lawrence leading 40-22, showcasing its ability to maintain control through solid defense and efficient scoring.

Lawrence opened the third quarter with a strong offensive push, highlighted by Josie Eager's assist to Morey for a layup just seconds into play. Olivia Kesti followed with a three-pointer, assisted by Brennan, to extend the lead. Lawrence maintained momentum with fast-break points, including a layup by Adams, while keeping the Ladyblues at a distance.

In the fourth quarter, Lawrence maintained its lead with strategic defensive plays and timely scoring. Despite Illinois College's initial push, highlighted by a jumper and a fast break three-pointer, Lawrence responded with strong defense, including steals by Eager and Abby Talbot, which led to crucial points. Lawrence also capitalized on free throws to steadily increase its margin.
