KENOSHA, Wis. — The Lawrence University men's and women's track & field teams put together a strong day of competition Friday at the Lake Michigan Open, turning in multiple top-four finishes.
Women's Highlights
The Viking women were paced by a standout effort in the 400 meters, where Faith Onukaogu earned a third-place finish after crossing the line in 1:05.19. Teammate Clara Lyford followed closely behind, finishing fourth with a time of 1:06.47, giving Lawrence two top-four results in the event.
In the sprint events, Jorja Miller continued her strong indoor campaign with a sixth-place finish in the 200 meters, clocking 28.42, while also competing in the 55-meter dash. Morgan Cross and Onukaogu added depth for the Vikings in the short sprints, posting solid times across multiple races.
Lawrence also saw success in the field events, led by a pair of top finishes in the triple jump. Anna Vanden Acker recorded a third-place finish with a leap of 9.45 meters (31-0), while Ashlee Long followed closely behind in fourth place at 9.08 meters (29-9½). In the high jump, Jacqui Malm cleared 1.50 meters (4'11") to place among the event's top competitors.
On the distance side, Eli Wunderlich represented the Vikings in the 3,000 meters, finishing eighth overall in a crowded field with a time of 13:04.40. Additional contributions came from the throws, where RyLeigh Truchon posted a mark of 9.63 meters (31-7¼) in the shot put and Mackenzie Schuh recorded a throw of 10.76 meters (35-3¾) in the weight throw.
Men's HighlightsÂ
The Lawrence men turned in a strong team performance, finishing sixth overall with 23 points in a meet that featured a deep and competitive field.
In the relays, the Lawrence 4×400 relay team of Bergen Thorson, Brendan Cross, Marcus Jackson and Tristen Gray posted a competitive time, finishing fourth in the invite section and contributing points toward the team total. Ryan Cassiday scored for Lawrence in the mile, finishing fifth overall with a time of 4:33.80 and Nick Lubin ran a time of 24.19 to place in his section of the 200m.
In the weight throw, Connor Skarsten finished seventh with a mark of 13.00 m (42-8) and Jack McLaughlin placed eighth at 12.60 m (41-4¼), adding usable points in a strong throwing group. JC Arocho competed in the shot put, posting a mark of 9.38m (30'9.25").Â
