Appleton, Wisconsin – Lawrence University turned in a strong showing at the Fox River Showdown, highlighted by multiple event victories and a long list of top-five finishes across both the men's and women's competitions. All results, times, and marks have been verified against official meet results.
Women's Recap
Lawrence's women were led by several event victories on both the track and in the field. The 4x100 relay team of Izzy Baumgardt, Jorja Miller, Anna Vanden Acker, and Morgan Cross opened the day with a win in 52.13. Mila Westra followed with a first-place finish in the 400 meters in 1:00.64, while Elena Hartung swept the hurdles, winning the 100-meter hurdles in 15.90 and the 400-meter hurdles in 1:04.98.
In the middle distances, Laura Henze claimed the 800-meter title in 2:26.43, and Lillian Courtnage-Dyke added a third-place finish in the 1500 meters with a time of 4:45.38.
In the field events, Anna Vanden Acker won the triple jump with a mark of 9.52 meters, and Clara Lyford took first in the pole vault at 2.65 meters. The Vikings added depth across the jumps, with Morgan Cross finishing second in the long jump (4.70m), Jacqui Malm placing second in the high jump (1.45m), and Ashlee Long finishing third in the high jump (1.45m) and second in the triple jump (9.46m).
Lawrence was also strong in the throws. Alease McLain placed second in the hammer throw (43.44m) and fourth in the shot put (10.28m). Greta Vianden took third in the hammer (41.56m) and third in the javelin (29.03m), while Ryleigh Truchon added a third-place finish in the discus (38.22m) and fifth in the hammer (38.78m).
On the track, Jorja Miller added a runner-up finish in the 200 meters (27.90), and Deirdre Duffy posted a fourth-place finish in the 100 meters (14.82) and third in the 200 meters (31.39). The 4x400 relay team capped the day with a second-place finish in 4:11.97.
Men's Recap
Lawrence's men delivered a standout performance, highlighted by dominance in the distance events and multiple event victories.
The Vikings swept the top four spots in the 1500 meters, led by Zach Meyer's winning time of 3:54.29. Nick Hansen followed in second (3:55.17), Ryan Cassidy placed third (4:05.71), and Tristen Gray finished fourth (4:08.10).
Lawrence also secured a win in the 4x100 relay, with Parker Wittmayer, Benjamin Baldwin, Cannon Smithers, and Brendan Cross finishing first in 43.97. Smithers added an individual victory in the 400 meters (53.75), while Baldwin placed second in the 100 meters (11.40) and second in the 200 meters (23.40).
Additional top-five finishes on the track included Brendan Cross placing second in the 110-meter hurdles (17.43), Tristan Zook finishing fifth in the 100 meters (11.76), and Peyton Mueller taking fourth in the 200 meters (24.34) with Smithers adding a fifth-place finish (24.60).
In the field events, Peyton Mueller won the high jump with a clearance of 1.80 meters, and Brady Dilworth captured the javelin title with a throw of 49.76 meters. Connor Skarsten led the throws group with a third-place finish in the hammer (44.07m), second in the discus (39.89m), and fifth in the shot put (11.74m).
The Vikings also saw a strong showing in the jumps, with Leo Hagberg placing third in the long jump (6.26m) and Parker Wittmayer finishing fourth in the pole vault (2.91m). Lawrence capped the meet with a second-place finish in the 4x400 relay in 3:32.60.
