Neenah, Wis. – The Lawrence University men's tennis team dropped a 7-0 decision to University of Wisconsin–Stevens Point on Sunday.
Stevens Point secured the doubles point with wins at the top two positions, but Lawrence picked up a victory at No. 3. Benjamin Hoppe and Gabriel Garcia fell 6-3 at No. 1 doubles, and David Rothman and Devin Gurs dropped a 6-2 decision at No. 2. At No. 3, Xander Priest and Owen Horton earned a 6-3 win to highlight doubles play for the Vikings.
In singles action, Stevens Point won all six matches. Benjamin Hoppe fell 6-2, 6-4 at No. 1, while Gabriel Garcia was defeated 6-2, 6-2 at No. 2. Owen Horton dropped a 6-4, 6-1 decision at No. 3. Xander Priest fell 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4, Devin Gurs was defeated 6-0, 6-0 at No. 5, and David Rothman dropped a 6-2, 6-1 result at No. 6.
Lawrence continued to compete throughout the lineup as the Vikings wrapped up the opening match of their Sunday doubleheader.
