Neenah, Wis. – The Lawrence women's tennis team faced Edgewood on Sunday, dropping a 6-1 decision in a dual that featured multiple competitive singles matches.
The most tightly contested doubles match came at No. 2, where Clara Hill and Sky Shinohara pushed their opponents to a 7-6 (7-4) finish. Anna Vanden Acker and Logan Kane fell 6-1 at No. 1 doubles, and Evie Vacek and Madelena Priest dropped a 6-1 decision at No. 3.
Clara Hill delivered the highlight of the afternoon at No. 1 singles. After dropping the first set 6-4, Hill answered with a 6-4 win in the second before taking control of the super tiebreak 10-3 to secure Lawrence's lone point.
Logan Kane forced a third-set super tiebreak at No. 3 singles after winning the opening set 7-5 but ultimately fell 10-5. Anna Vanden Acker (6-3, 6-1), Sky Shinohara (6-2, 6-3), Rachael Pofahl (6-2, 6-3), and Maddie Bublik (6-0, 6-1) rounded out singles play for the Vikings after a full day of battles on the court.Â
