CLERMONT, Fla. – The Lawrence University baseball team faced a tough challenge against a high-powered Amherst squad, falling 24-0 on Saturday afternoon.

Amherst set the tone early with a 10-run first inning and continued to add on throughout the game. Despite the early deficit, Lawrence continued to compete and looked to find rhythm offensively against a strong pitching performance.

The Vikings recorded four hits in the contest, with Steven Baudendistel, Dyson Sharpton, Boris Christensen, and Aeneas Pichardo each collecting a hit. Lawrence threatened in the middle innings, putting runners on base and showing patience at the plate, but was unable to push a run across.

On the mound, Lawrence utilized multiple arms, with Max Huddleston providing the bulk of the innings in relief. Brady Dilworth closed out the game with a scoreless final inning.

Defensively, the Vikings battled through a challenging matchup against a potent Amherst lineup, continuing to compete through all seven innings.

Lawrence will look to bounce back as the team continues its spring break slate.
