APPLETON, Wis. – The Lawrence University men's lacrosse team delivered one of its most complete offensive performances of the season, rolling past Cornell College 17-8 at the Banta Bowl on Saturday afternoon.
Lawrence came out firing and never looked back, erupting for eight first-quarter goals to seize early control. Henry Fischer opened the scoring, and the Vikings quickly built momentum behind a flurry of goals from Brody Herr, Eamon Tegenfeldt-Pfo, and Judah Goehring to jump out to a commanding 6-0 lead.
Despite a pair of Cornell man-up goals late in the opening quarter, Lawrence responded immediately. Robbie Spielmann and Emmett Eischens each found the back of the net to close the frame with an 8-2 advantage.
The Vikings continued to dominate possession and tempo in the second quarter, adding four more goals. Herr struck again, while Gavin Reiter, Spielmann, and Logan Marsh all contributed as Lawrence extended the lead to 12-2 at halftime.
Lawrence's balanced attack remained on display in the second half. Fischer and Finn Anderson each scored in the third quarter, and Tegenfeldt-Pfo added another to push the lead to 15-3. Anderson and Fischer capped the scoring in the fourth as the Vikings maintained control down the stretch.
Offensively, Lawrence saw contributions across the board with nine different goal scorers. Fischer, Tegenfeldt-Pfo, and Herr each recorded hat tricks, while Spielmann orchestrated the attack with two goals and three assists. Emmett Eischens added four points, including three assists, and Anderson chipped in three points of his own.
The Vikings dominated statistically, outshooting Cornell 65-25 and winning the ground ball battle 35-30 while forcing 35 turnovers.
In goal, Gavin Reiter and Tyler Graham combined for nine saves, anchoring a defensive effort that limited Cornell's opportunities for much of the contest.
