CLERMONT, Fla. – The Lawrence University softball team jumped out to an early lead but fell 6-3 to Carleton on Saturday afternoon.
Lawrence came out strong, scoring twice in the first inning. Gillian Guerriero delivered an RBI single, and Isabella Alfaro added a sacrifice fly to give the Vikings an early advantage. In the second inning, Georgia Sedlack brought home another run after Callie Rozak opened the frame with a triple, pushing the lead to 3-0.
Callie Rozak led the Vikings offensively, going 2-for-3 with a triple and a run scored. Avery Chilson also added a hit and scored once, while Guerriero and Sedlack each drove in a run.
Carleton responded in the third inning, capitalizing on opportunities to tie the game before pulling ahead in the fifth with a three-run inning.
Sedlack worked all six innings in the circle for Lawrence, keeping the Vikings within reach throughout the game.
