CLERMONT, Fla. – The Lawrence University softball team showed offensive flashes but fell 10-2 to Oberlin on Monday afternoon.

Oberlin opened the scoring in the first inning, using aggressive baserunning to take a 1-0 lead before adding two runs in the fourth and two more in the fifth to build a 5-0 advantage.

Lawrence found momentum in the sixth inning. Gillian Guerriero reached and came around to score on a Shelby Rozak groundout, and Lillian Guidry followed with an RBI single to bring the Vikings within 5-2.

The Vikings totaled eight hits in the contest, with Zoe Doherty and Isabella Alfaro each recording two-hit performances. Guerriero also added a hit and a run scored, while Guidry and Rozak each drove in a run.

Avery Chilson kept Lawrence within striking distance through six innings, allowing just one earned run while working around traffic and limiting Oberlin's offense.

Oberlin pulled away in the seventh inning with a five-run frame to extend the lead and seal the game.
