Davenport, Fla. — Myles Brincks drove in three runs and Lawrence University showed flashes offensively, but UW-La Crosse pulled away late for a 20-4 victory over the Vikings on Monday.
Lawrence trailed 5-0 in the third inning before cutting into the deficit with a two-run answer. Gabe Villa and Nathan Depew both came around to score when Brincks ripped a triple to center field, trimming the Eagles' lead to 5-2.
UW-La Crosse added two more runs in the fourth and three in the sixth to build a 10-2 advantage, but Lawrence answered again in the seventh. Villa scored on an RBI single from Brincks, and AJ Desantiago followed with an RBI double to right center to plate Brincks and make it 11-4.
Brincks finished 2-for-4 with a triple, a run scored and three RBIs to lead the Vikings at the plate. Desantiago went 1-for-4 with a double and an RBI, while Dylan Keelan added a pair of hits. Depew also scored and reached base twice, and Villa crossed the plate twice for Lawrence.
Ben Gutowski added a hit, and Sage Beebe-Jenny worked three walks as the Vikings drew six free passes in the game. Lawrence finished with seven hits.
UW-La Crosse used a five-run third inning to seize control, then broke the game open with a six-run ninth. The Eagles finished with 21 hits.
Josh Moosey took the loss for Lawrence, and Nathan Pollen, Jake Watkins, Branson Kent and Dylan Keelan also saw time on the mound for the Vikings.
