Clermont, Florida – The Lawrence University softball team fell to St. Lawrence 9-1 on Friday morning at Legends Way.
Lawrence struck first in the opening inning as Zoe Doherty tripled to right center and later came home on an RBI single from Gillian Guerriero to give the Vikings an early 1-0 lead.
St. Lawrence responded immediately, scoring three runs in the bottom of the first to take control, and continued to apply pressure with a three-run third inning to extend the lead to 6-1. The Saints added a run in the fourth and two more in the fifth to pull away.
Despite the early spark, Lawrence was limited offensively the rest of the way, finishing with two hits on the morning. Doherty accounted for one of those with her leadoff triple, while Guerriero drove in the Vikings' lone run.
In the circle, Georgia Sedlack took the loss, working three innings, while Kylan Arndt provided relief over the final frames.
Lawrence showed discipline at the plate with three walks and continued to apply pressure on the bases, but was unable to generate sustained offense.
