Myszka Earns Three-Set Victory in Vikings Match with Millikin

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. — The Lawrence University men's tennis team dropped a 6–1 decision to Millikin University on Saturday afternoon at Bloomington Tennis and Turf, but the Vikings closed the match on a high note with a gritty three-set victory in the final singles contest.

Millikin took control early by sweeping the doubles matches to secure the opening point. The closest contest came at No. 1 doubles where Benjamin Hoppe and Gabriel Garcia battled before falling 6–4. Will Phillips and David Rothman dropped the No. 2 doubles match 6–0, while Owen Horton and Will Lewis fell 6–2 at No. 3.

In singles play, Lawrence showed resilience throughout the lineup, highlighted by an impressive comeback victory from Jonathan Myszka at No. 6 singles. After dropping the opening set 6–4, Myszka rallied to take the second set 6–3 before sealing the match in the third-set tiebreaker to secure the Vikings' lone point of the day.

Millikin claimed the remaining singles matches to secure the team win. At the top of the lineup, Hoppe fell 6–2, 6–1 at No. 1 singles, while Garcia was defeated 6–0, 6–0 at No. 2. Horton pushed his opponent in a competitive match at No. 3 singles but came up just short in a 7–6, 6–2 decision. Phillips and Lewis rounded out the lineup at No. 4 and No. 5 singles.
