Oshkosh, Wisconsin — The Lawrence University track & field teams turned in a strong showing at the UW Oshkosh Invite, highlighted by a school-record performance from Jack McLaughlin and a first-place finish from Zach Meyer to lead the Vikings.
Jack McLaughlin delivered the top performance of the day for Lawrence, setting a new program record in the hammer throw with a mark of 50.89 meters (166-11) while placing fifth overall.
On the track, Zach Meyer led the way with a first-place finish in the 800 meters, crossing in 1:56.24 to claim the event title.
Lawrence added strong depth in the distance events, as Leigham Alexander placed seventh in the 5,000 meters with a time of 16:38.72, just ahead of Francis Alexander, who took eighth in 16:39.71.
In the field events, Peyton Muller cleared 1.80 meters to place fifth in the high jump, while Connor Skarsten added another top-five performance in the javelin with a throw of 43.44 meters.
The Vikings also turned in a solid effort in the 4x400 relay, as the team of Zach Meyer, Alex Luckett, Brendan Cross, and Cannon Smithers posted a time of 3:40.61.
On the women's side, Gaby Skarozewski led the way with a sixth-place finish in the 400 meters at 1:03.06.
Mila Westra added a sixth-place finish in the 800 meters with a time of 2:20.13, while Elena Hartung placed seventh in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:07.08.
In the field, Greta Vianden recorded a seventh-place finish in the javelin with a throw of 27.02 meters (88-8) to round out the top performances for Lawrence.
