Grinnell, Iowa -- Lawrence University softball exploded for a dominant offensive performance, scoring 12 runs in a single inning on the way to a 15-4 run-rule victory over Grinnell on Saturday.
After falling behind 4-0 early, the Vikings responded with one of their most explosive innings of the season in the fourth. Lawrence sent a wave of hitters to the plate, capitalizing on timely hitting and Grinnell miscues to score 12 runs and take full control of the game.
Lillian Guidry started the rally with an RBI single before Callie Rozak and Shelby Rozak helped keep the line moving. Avery Chilson delivered a key two-RBI hit, while Ava Pilgrim added a two-RBI single as part of the massive inning.
Lawrence added three more runs in the fifth to cap off the 15-run performance. Gillian Guerriero and Isabella Alfaro each drove in runs, while the Vikings continued to apply pressure on the basepaths.
Chilson earned the win in the circle, going all five innings while allowing just four hits and no earned runs.
At the plate, Guerriero scored three times, Chilson drove in two runs, and both Rozak sisters and Pilgrim contributed multi-hit efforts in a complete team offensive display.
