Fischer nets hat trick in battle with Falcons

MEQUON, Wis. — Lawrence University fell to Concordia University Wisconsin with a final score of 19-9 on Wednesday. Despite the loss, the Vikings' goalie, Tyler Graham, made 20 saves, showcasing resilience against the Falcons' 55 shots.

The first quarter began with Concordia University Wisconsin setting the pace, securing the initial faceoff and taking advantage of an early man-up opportunity. Bryce Petersen opened the scoring for the Falcons at 14:00, assisted by Preston Meier, and Frank Trewyn quickly followed with another goal at 13:47. Truett Jones scored for Lawrence at 12:11, narrowing the gap momentarily. The Falcons, however, maintained momentum, with additional goals by Jackson Knutson and Blane Vrana extending their lead to 6-2 by the quarter's end. Henry Fischer added a second goal for the Vikings at 1:22, but the team trailed 6-2 heading into the second quarter.

Concordia Wisconsin extended its lead early in the second quarter with a goal from Jack Bradley, assisted by Ben Birch, at 13:31. The Vikings responded with a goal by Emmett Eischens, assisted by Eamon Tegenfeldt-Pfo, at 11:27. The scoring continued as Brody Herr found the net at 5:30, reducing Concordia's lead. Fischer added another goal at 1:44, closing the quarter with a 3-2 run in favor of Lawrence, but Concordia maintained an 8-5 overall lead.

The Falcons took control early in the third quarter, opening with a goal by Kaleb Weikel just 35 seconds in. The Vikings responded with Eischens scoring twice, first at 12:13 with an assist from Fischer, and again at 9:10 assisted by Herr. Concordia Wisconsin maintained their momentum, with Preston Meier and Weikel each adding to their lead, capitalizing on multiple faceoff victories. Petersen scored on a man-up opportunity, extending the Falcons' advantage. Despite Lawrence's efforts, including a late shot by Fischer, Concordia Wisconsin closed the quarter leading 16-7.

In the fourth quarter, Concordia Wisconsin extended its lead with strategic plays, starting with a goal by Bradley at 9:46, assisted by Eric Plasencia. The Vikings responded with a goal from Fischer at 4:51, narrowing the deficit. However, Concordia capitalized on a man-up situation, with Brayden Wilson scoring at 3:08, assisted by Vrana, followed shortly by Gaje Germundson's goal at 2:13, assisted by Will Webber. Despite a late goal from Lawrence's Judah Goehring at 1:29, Concordia maintained control to conclude the game with a final score of 19-9.
