Appleton, Wisconsin – Lawrence delivered a dominant sweep over Maranatha Baptist on Saturday, erupting for 28 runs in game one before backing it up with a 19-1 run-rule victory in game two at Whiting Field.
Game 1 – Lawrence 28, Maranatha Baptist 0 (5 innings)
Lawrence set the tone immediately and never let up, putting together one of its most complete offensive performances of the season.
The Vikings plated six runs in the first inning, capitalizing on early baserunners and forcing Maranatha to play from behind right away. That momentum carried into a massive second inning, where Lawrence sent wave after wave to the plate, scoring 17 runs on a mix of timely hits, walks, and aggressive baserunning to blow the game wide open.
Even with the game firmly in hand, the Vikings continued to apply pressure in the third, adding five more runs to push the total to 28. Lawrence finished with 20 hits and 17 walks, consistently putting runners in scoring position and cashing in throughout the lineup.
Zoe Doherty and Anitza Gutierrez sparked the offense at the top, combining to score eight runs and reach base repeatedly. Allisyn Briggs drove in four runs, while Adrie Villa recorded three hits and two RBIs. Gillian Guerriero and Lillian Guidry each added multiple RBIs as the offensive production came from every spot in the order.
In the circle, Avery Chilson controlled the early innings with two hitless frames and five strikeouts. Shelby Rozak followed with three scoreless innings, limiting Maranatha to just three hits to secure the shutout and complete the run-rule win.
Game 2 – Lawrence 19, Maranatha Baptist 1 (5 innings)
Lawrence carried that momentum straight into game two, responding to an early deficit with another explosive offensive showing.
After Maranatha pushed across a run in the top of the first, the Vikings answered immediately with six runs in the bottom half, flipping the momentum in a hurry. Lawrence continued to build separation in the second inning, stringing together hits and drawing walks to plate 10 more runs and take full control of the game.
The Vikings stayed aggressive late, adding insurance runs in the third and fourth innings to put the game firmly out of reach. Lawrence finished with 13 hits while again taking advantage of free passes and situational hitting to keep innings alive.
Adrie Villa and Ava Pilgrim led the way with three hits each, consistently setting the table and driving in runs. Isabella Alfaro delivered one of the biggest swings of the game with a bases-clearing triple, finishing with three RBIs, while Janna Bode added three RBIs and reached base multiple times. Kylan Arndt contributed two RBIs at the plate to go along with her work in the circle.
Arndt was steady throughout, tossing a complete five-inning game while allowing just one run and striking out six, keeping Maranatha from building any momentum after the opening inning.
