DE PERE, Wis. — The Lawrence women's soccer team controlled play throughout Wednesday night's match but couldn't find the finishing touch in a 0-0 draw with St. Norbert College at Schneider Stadium.
Lawrence moved to 3-0-2 on the season and remained unbeaten through its first five matches. The Vikings dominated the statistical battle, outshooting St. Norbert 15-2 and putting five attempts on goal while the Green Knights failed to record a shot on target. Lawrence also piled up a commanding 14-0 advantage in corner kicks.
Ava Bedan generated Lawrence's first shot on goal in the 13th minute, forcing St. Norbert goalkeeper Leah Hess into a save. The Vikings continued to apply pressure throughout the opening half and took six shots while earning six corners.
Lawrence increased the pressure after halftime. Caroline Cody forced a save just over two minutes into the second half before Ava Elders tested Hess in the 61st minute. Kylie Melonis followed with another shot on frame in the 70th minute, and Lucia Pierce-Haig forced Hess into her fifth save in the 77th.
Pierce-Haig led Lawrence with three shots, while Maddie Schellinger also finished with three. Bedan, Elders, Melonis, Cody and Pierce-Haig each put an attempt on target.
On the other end, Ally Littau and the Lawrence defense completely shut down the Green Knights. Littau recorded the clean sheet without being forced to make a save as St. Norbert managed just two shots in 90 minutes.
